Private Island Escape-Peter Island

As my sailing adventure continues my next stop is one of the most exclusive islands in the Caribbean, Peter Island, an amazing private island in the British Virgin Island that’s only accessible by boat or helicopter. This TRAVEL THERAPY destination has been top on my list of places to stay for more than a decade because…

I sailed past it about ten years ago but never go to spend any time on the island and always promised myself someday…someday I would be back. 

Now, finally, on my mission to explore seven islands in seven days (see last post) I’m able to make this dream come true. I woke up on my catamaran as soon as the sun came up and took a quick swim and snorkel near Norman Island before we headed off for Peter Island.

As we sailed closer my heart beat faster I knew my decision to come back was the right one. With so many places in the world to explore I usually don’t like visiting a place twice but this was different. The last time I was here I had only sailed by and this time I was actually going to stay on this private island.

Peter Island is a favorite with the rich and famous because it’s so secluded. There are fifty-two romantic rooms and three villas spread over 1,300 acres of mountainous terrain and sugar sand, isolated beaches. I checked into an impressive junior suite, the ultimate escape with the most decadent Jacuzzi tub I’ve ever experienced. I would have stayed in the suite all night if I didn’t have dinner reservations. There are several restaurants to choose from, from formal to beachfront depending on your mood but whatever your choice you won’t be disappointed.

After a fantastic night’s sleep I started the next morning with a trip to Peter Island’s new six million dollar spa where I was escorted to a private outdoor treatment “bohio” overlooking the Caribbean for my deluxe treatment. These bohio’s are set up beautifully. This is the perfect place for a romantic couple’s massage because you have your own private Jacuzzi and the bohios offer total seclusion. Spa treatments are also fantastic, click HERE for Peter Island’s new spa menu. 

Relaxing after my massage I knew my day on Peter Island was coming to an end. I needed to get back to my catamaran and continue my adventure to explore the British Virgin Islands. Once back on the cat I couldn’t watch as we sailed away. I had lived the dream to stay at Peter Island and I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye but I was excited for my next stop Cooper Island…
