BIG NEWS! I found out plans are in the works for a new spectacular spa at the Tides Resort in Zihuatanejo. Like many resorts in Mexico Tide’s current spa is “petite” with only a handful of treatment rooms but I was still surprised and impressed with how this small space has recently been transformed into a simple but soothing oasis…

The moment I walked into the spa I felt like I was stepping back in time to an exotic scene from Arabian Nights. The only light comes from these gorgeous Mexican made lanterns that are clustered together creatively and hang from the ceiling in the center of the room. This unique artistic lighting set up is surrounded by a pristine white sitting area with throw pillows the color of the ocean.

Sipping tea, one of the things I noticed right away was the genuineness of the therapists. You could feel it in their smiles and their touch that they truly loved their jobs and wanted to please you. That alone is priceless.

If you go one of the new treatments you can’t miss is the Tides signature Lava Shell Therapy. This spa in Zihuatanejo is the first place in the world it’s being offered. The idea behind this unique holistic treatment is to draw from the healing powers of the ocean by using heated Tiger Clam shells that are polished until they are as smooth as silk! The shells are applied right to the body to infuse a “native ocean chi” where the pressure is deep enough to go after those stubborn knots but still smooth enough to create a tranquil experience. The oils used during the treatment are from the exclusive Osea line and coming up in the near future you’ll see even more Osea products in the rooms and an entire line is being made exclusively for the new spa.Stay tuned for more updates and additional spa news!
