If you’re looking for hip, chic, top-rated steakhouse in NYC where the wine list is never-ending the desserts are to die for, don’t miss a meal at BLT Steak. No, BLT doesn’t stand for bacon, lettuce and tomato, it actually stands for  Bistro Laurent Tourondel, named after famed Chef Tourondel (previously of Cello). At Cello, once one of the top seafood restaurants in Manhattan, Chef Tourondel was known for his seafood masterpieces and you can still find his special oceanic flare at BLT when you order the Dover Sole. Since the portions are extremely generous we decided to share one of the dry aged steaks AND the Dover Sole to sample the best of both worlds.

With the help of Brett, my new favorite Sommelier, we were also able to experience some wines I’ve never tried before and Brett made sure they were paired exquisitely with our food choices. My favorite a 2004, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon, called Hourglass. It was like drinking liquid chocolate but still bold enough to impress.

For our meal we sampled so many items on the menu it’s hard to pick a favorite but the popovers served before you even get start was an instant addiction. The Tuna Tartar appetizer was phenomenal and if you’re craving carbs don’t miss the giant onion rings. There are almost two dozen different side dishes to choose from so pick your pleasure but save room for dessert! From the crème brulee and crepe soufflé to the sundae and chocolate tart you can’t go wrong. Each bite is worth every calorie!
