Next week TRAVEL THERAPY hits the road and heads north, way north… into Canada’s Rocky Mountains! 

The resort in the picture is one of my stops. The Fairmont Banff Springs  looks like a castle tucked away in a fairly land of ice and snow and is legendary for its stunning scenery and world-class amenities. Excited to check it out.

Of course all my winter ski stuff and outdoor wear is back at my home in Arizona, brilliant, I know,but that’s still not going to stop me from doing some serious outdoor exploring with dog sledding top on my list! I’ve also been battling the flu so I’m going to have to be a real trooper for this one, but I’ve decided as long as I can survive the flight there I’ll figure out the rest, borrow a coat and ski pants, and just suck it up. From what I’ve researched so far this trip is going to be amazing so there’s no way I’m letting a little flu get in my way, and since I’m not contagious anymore I won’t be spreading this nasty bug on to anyone!

Okay, enough about all that. Here’s the plan. This will be my first time in Alberta and most of my week long stay will be centered around beautiful Banff, but I’ll also be checking out Calgary. I was amazed to find there are so many different things to do besides ski this time of year, so I’ve signed  up for as many as I can handle, ice biking, snow shoeing, dog sledding, just the tip of the iceberg (pun intended!). They also have some fantastic spas in this part of the world so I’ll also be checking them out to reenergize and help gain back my strength.

As a preview to some of the tasty Rocky Mountain cuisine I’ll have on my trip I’m headed out to a special lunch in Manhattan today at Grayz where one of Alberta’s top chefs, Alistair Barnes, will be showing off his culinary flair and will be talking about his new book just released called “Simple Treasures”.

I’m sure this will just whet my appetite for my trip next week…stay tuned for this latest TRAVEL THERAPY adventure!
