Alberta Bound

Okay, I know I have Long Johns somewhere! Do they even still call them that? For my trek to Alberta, Canada, next week I need all the warm weather gear I can find and right now my Long Johns are mysteriously missing…
The last time I wore them, whatever they’re called, was this same time last year when I was reporting in Afghanistan. Maybe I left them behind when I left the Afghanistan/Pakistan Border? Makes sense since I usually avoid anything “cold weather” related like the plague.
There’s a reason I spent several years living in Scottsdale, Arizona, and loving it, so this ”bundling up”phenomenon is something I’m going to have to get use to again. I usually only travel to cold destinations if they are truly fantastic so you know Banff has to be amazing for me to go for a week in the dead of winter. So many fantastic Hollywood films have been shot in this part of the world, like Legends of the Fall, and celebrity after celebrity are always saying how stunning Alberta is.
So…I’m off. I fly into Calgary and have so many amazing stops on my list next that week is going to whirl by. I’ll planning to blog daily, highlighting some of the best TRAVEL THERAPY options!
Coming up, dog sledding, ice-hiking, snow shoeing and skiing and that’s just the outdoor activities. I’ll also be checking out some of the top resorts, restaurant and spas in both Banff and Calgary.
What a week!

WOW…. not crazy about the cold any more, ( I was born close by in Buffalo New York, live in Az. now) but this looks like an amazing winter wonderland of FUN!! Can not wait to see the pictures of dog sledding, ice-biking, skiing and the ice biking sounds very cool, do they have ice spin classes? :o) doreen
