NYC Champagne Brunch!

I knew I loved NYC when I heard New Yorker’s love their Sunday brunch, especially the ones including champagne. How perfect! So I’ve gathered up a long list of places to try, but I’ve already found a TRAVEL THERAPY standout I wanted to share right away in case you’re looking for a fabulous brunch on the Upper West Side.  Of course, one of the smartest things to do is talk to people who live in the neighborhood about their favorite New York bunch haunt and then hope they’ll share those hidden gems you usually only know about if you are  local. I knew the moment I walked in the door the Arte Café it was the kind of place I could escape to on Sundays and truly feel at home, and one glance at the menu, featuring unlimited Mimosas, Bellini’s, Bloody Mary’s and Strawberry Sangrias’ for just $12 and all the entrées where under $15 dollars I knew I’d hit the jackpot.

What I love about the Arte Café is how it’s tucked away in a brownstone off 73rd and Columbus and how large and spacious it is inside but because it’s broken up into different rooms so you feel like you’re in an intimate dining area without being smooshed  into seating that’s so tight you can’t even lift your champagne class to toast. The omelets are simple but tasty and the Eggs Benedict with salmon are a favorite with the friends I’ve taken. For brunch the restaurant also serve up some delicious French Toast and my favorite, a waffle to die for. Of course you’ll also find salads, etc, on the menu, but I always go for the breakfast items. 

Several standouts: while this is a champagne brunch but you don’t have to order champagne, keeping the cost down if you’re just looking for some great food and a chic but comfortable atmosphere. The brunch special is offered on BOTH Saturday’s and Sunday and come spring there’s a great outdoor garden you can relax and indulge.

It’s a tough job but the research continues next Sunday. Some on my list to check out on the Upper West Side: Cafe Luxembourg, Isabellas,  Nice Martin and Ocean Grill.
