Here’s a TRAVEL THERAPY that fits perfectly into the splurge category. How about renting your own private island? Actually, it’s not as hard as you think because…

there are a handful of islands all over the world, like Guana Island, where you can rent out the entire island for your own private party or truly private romantic escape. Think about it, how perfect would renting out an island be if you’re planning a destination wedding or a business retreat or a special event for the family because this would be one travel experience people would remember forever!

Here’s how it works for renting out Guana Island, and 850 acre private island in the Caribbean that only allow up to 36 people but you can bring the kids, or not, whomever you want it’s up to you. That’s the beauty, you’re in charge and you control the guest list.

You will have the run of the entire island and no one else will be allowed because there are no moorings, no public restaurants or a public beach bar. Guana Island is extremely exclusive. How long can you rent this private island for? As long as you like!

When you rent the island you have access to 16 hilltop cottages and since the island is all-inclusive all your meals and activities are in this vacation package deal and wine is included with lunch and dinner.

Okay, so how much? Depending on the time of year rates start around $20,000 to rent the entire island for one night. Spendy, yes, but what an amazing opportunity to feel like you own your own slice of paradise!

Stay tuned for other TRAVEL THERAPY posts about other islands you can rent out and how you can even buy your own private island, a huge travel trend right now, with some islands actually going for a steal!

Hi. I just found your posts and really enjoyed your posts and pictures. Gorgeous! Definitely on the “must visit” list. We decided Costa Rica was for us there is a place called Mequengue that looks especially appealing… has anyone been there?

Sounds like a place for Brad Pitt and his family. Do you have any for retired blue collar workers? Beautiful pictures. Love your site the most, even if I can’t afford the private island…keep up the good work and let us know when your book is in print.

renting an island is a very cool idea since we can’t afford to purchase an island. At least, we can say that this is my island for a certain amount of time
