Here’s a TRAVEL THERAPY that’s a great stress buster! Try hitting the Atlantic Ocean where you’ll find some of the best deep sea fishing just off of Duck Key in the Florida Keys.

What’s so amazing about this destination is the variety of fish you can catch. When we went out on our charter with Captain Ed on the FINAL FINAL boat, we must have caught 10 different kinds of fish in just a couple of hours and we were fighting some heavy winds and choppy water. The first mate Mike even caught a sailfish! Now that was something to see!

Mike spotted the sailfish when we were moving to another location and within thirty seconds he had grabbed a pole and flung the bait right in front of the fish. It worked. The sailfish took the bait and came flying out the water. This fish was at least 6 feet long!

Mike’s pole wasn’t rigged to catch sailfish because we had just been reeling in yellowtail so the sailfish snapped the line and got away, but for those few seconds the excitement was exhilarating. It made us all want to go out and try and catch one!

What we did catch was almost a dozen delicious yellowtail along with a few grouper and snapper. Basically, we caught dinner, because at Hawks Cay Resort it’s set up so when you catch your fish the chef at Tom’s Harbor House (a great restaurant right at the marina) will cook your fish for you and I can honestly say a fish dinner has never tasted so good!

Right now the resort is using six different boat charters and is looking to add even more and these boats standing by down at the marina for any kind of fishing trip you can imagine. The anglers we talked to are proud of the fact that this part of the Florida Keys has such an abundance of different kinds of fish to catch.

Some of the highlights for the deep sea fishing include:

Sailfish

Kingfish

Mahi Mahi

Tuna

Snapper

Grouper

Swordfish I’ll tell you one thing you’ll never be bored. These anglers know what they’re doing and every person on our boat caught fish almost immediately. Now that’s when fishing is FUN!

Each boat can take up to six people and a half day charter will run you between $650-$1200.

f you’re worried because you get a little queasy on the water try taking a pill called Trip Tone. The pro anglers swear by it and even though it was a rough day at sea after taking the pill none of us had any problems.
