Vice President Joe Biden needs TRAVEL THERAPY and he could learn a lesson or two from my grandmother! Seriously! Here’s why…
My grandmother, Pat Crane, is 93 years old and she’s flying across country this week from Seattle to New York City to visit me for a special event. It is the first time she has flown in decades. She watches the news around the clock so like the rest of us she has been bombarded with the swine flu stories but never once has she considered canceling her flight.
“Why would I?” she scofffs. “You can get sick anywhere, in a grocery store, on a bus. I’m not going to panic and be held hostage by what “might” happen, that’s silly,” she laughs.
But Vice President Joe Biden isn’t laughing after going on national television, on NBC’s Today show, suggesting that people flying right now are putting themselves at a greater risk for getting the swine flu. The airlines are fuming and the backlash has been uglier than being crammed into a center seat in coach and flying across country with only stale pretzels to nibble on.
“I think he just put his foot in his mouth”, my grandmother says. “Now he’s done it. I’m sure he didn’t mean it that way.”
But not everyone is so forgiving.
Just one of the reasons Biden needs some Travel Therapy, pronto!

So don’t cancel your trip, plan one! Just be smart about where you’re going and what you’re doing.

How about adding a Travel Therapy chapter devoted to Biden called “Overcoming Your Fears”. Or what about “Keeping the Scare Tactics at Bay”?
He isn’t stopping us! Good for your grandmother! Someone in his position should know better but I am sure there are a lot of folks thinking the same things he did. My friends daughter is getting married in Mexico in June. Should she panic? I don’t think so as it is at an all inclusive resort. At least I hope they don’t all panic and stop the wedding.
Come on Joe! Get some Travel Therapy. We did!

Panic never helps and you have to consider the odds. It’s not as if the entire country of Mexico is sick but you do need to know that travelilng through those Mexican airports can mean delays, etc. It’s all about reading up on the areas of highest risk, like Mexico City, and then being smart about what you do and where you go.
We need to get Biden the book. He might like the shark diving suggestion.

Your grandmother is one smart and sharp cookie! She is totally correct in what she has said and Biden needs to take a lesson from your gramms STAT! Being 93 she has seen tons and could teach us all a lesson on life. I live in Seattle too and so many people freaking out about this swine flu thing. I had two young girls run into my grocery store asking if we carried medical masks. I looked at them coldly, told them no and to go home and wash their hands. They didn’t like my reply and huffed out of the store. I am beginning to hate Americans and people in general. But I like your gramms way of thinking.
Yes, Mr. Biden put his foot in his mouth. Aircraft built after the 747 all have circulation systems that recycle air not front to back, but side to side in the plane.
