Also very exciting is that this is also the first theme song written specifically for a book with lyrics by the author. I love that my TRAVEL THERAPY book now has its own theme song! My motivation behind writing the song is that even if people can’t afford to travel right now they can download the TRAVEL THERAPY song for just pennies and still be inspired while they’re planning their next journey.

I got the idea for the TRAVEL THERAPY song after meeting international singer/songwriter Rob Holub. Born to Czech parents Rob grew up in Switzerland and we met when he was working at Swiss Tourism in New York City and I was headed to Switzerland to do a feature story for Elite Traveler on the Best Spas in Switzerland.  

I learned Rob had come to New York to launch his music career and after listening to him play the piano and sing his heartfelt music I got the idea that he would be the perfect person to do a TRAVEL THERAPY song. We joked about it at first, at least he did. We met for dinner and he said, “you write the lyrics and I’ll do your song.” I left the restaurant and literally started writing the song on the way home texting him verses from my BlackBerry. By the time he got home thirty minutes later, 90 percent of the song was done.

It was one of those magical moments where everything just works. It was winter in New York City and walking home I was freezing but I kept stopping to text another verse. I have never written a song before but the words were so close to my heart they poured out of me. I knew right then that this song would work, just like I knew the book concept would work.   

Rob says he kept getting the text messages with the lyrics and couldn’t believe it. He loved them AND he kept his word. How many people do you know that would do that? Several weeks later, after working with a Grammy winner to help produce the song, the TRAVEL THERAPY song was born!  

When I went to the studio for the final mix I had tears in my eyes because I couldn’t believe that the words that has poured out of my heart sounded so amazing when added to music.  I knew the song would reach out and touch people just like the book, because so many people are looking for hope and inspiration and the permission to go after their own dreams and that’s what TRAVEL THERAPY is all about.
