You know how I always say to be sure to look for great Travel Therapy experiences in your own backyard? Well, last night I got a chance to take my own advice and get caught up on all the fantastic things happening in New York State this summer and fall. I’m always looking for unique, inspiring and empowering story ideas for my Travel Therapy TV segments that I do on WPIX-TV, PIX11’s morning news and on the nationally syndicated Dr. Steve Show and after last night’s I Love New York’s tourism event I now have a long list of places I want to profile in the Empire State.
An added bonus, I got to taste some fantastic cuisine from some of New York’s top chefs and food and wine producers from all around the state including Chef Giuseppe Napoli from the Diamond Mills Hotel & Tavern who shared his delicious scallops dish.
Living in Manhattan I have to remind myself sometimes that New York State has eleven beautiful vacation regions of its own from breathtaking Niagara Falls to the Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes, The Hamptons and the Adirondacks to name just a few.
It was also really exciting to learn from Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s team that the Governor has committed close to $60 million dollars to New York tourism hoping to create new tourism jobs and bring even more people to the state.
What this means is a lot of exciting things coming up all around the state to help highlight the best of New York.
If you love festivals you’re in luck with dozens on the docket this year including food and wine festivals, music festivals and all kinds of festivals celebrating all of New York’s cool outdoor activities.
One coming up that sounds like a lot of fun is the Adirondack Challenge on July 21, 2013, featuring New York’s beautiful Adirondacks region with a day full of of water races, food, music and more in and around the town of Indian Lake.
Best way to stay updated on all that’s happening in New York coming up is to log and on to www.iloveny.com and also check in on social media.
