KAREN SCHALER

As the author of the TRAVEL THERAPY book and the creator & editor of the new TRAVEL THERAPY website/blog, Karen Schaler, is a three-time Emmy award-winning multi-media journalist with more than 10-years of professional reporting/writing/hosting experience. She’s currently working with the award-winning Wolper Organization in Hollywood developing a TRAVEL THERAPY reality television series and continuing to freelance travel segments and stories for top national and international outlets.

Schaler, a sought after top travel expert, has appeared on top network television shows including: Good Morning America, The Today Show, Fox & Friends, Fox’s America’s News HQ, ABC News Now, MSNBC’s Countdown, CNN, etc.

Schaler currently works as a freelance correspondent,writer and photographer doing regular on-air travel segments for ABC News Now and also works as a travel correspondent/photographer for the New York Daily News.

With degrees in Communications and Sociology, Schaler has traveled to more than 30 countries and has written more than 900 nationally and internationally published travel articles, including seven national magazine cover stories. Schaler’s work appears on television, in national newspapers, magazines and online.

Some of her publishing credits include: THE NEW YORKER, THE BOSTON GLOBE, THE NEW YORK TIMES, TRAVEL + LEISURE, TOWN AND COUNTRY TRAVEL, ELITE TRAVELER, ISLANDS, US AIRWAYS, AMERICA WEST, HEMISPHERES and the list goes on. Schaler has worked as an on-air television correspondent for CNN, and has worked as a reporter/anchor at ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX affiliates in major markets across the country.

Growing up outside of Seattle, Washington, Schaler has lived in ten different states and currently is based in NYC. Constantly globetrotting around the world, Schaler says her home now, “is wherever I put my suitcase.”
