As the founder & publisher of  the new TRAVEL THERAPY website and daily updated TRAVEL THERAPY blog, Karen Schaler, is a three-time Emmy award-winning multi-media journalist and author with more than 15-years of professional writing/reporting experience. Her TRAVEL THERAPY book, featuring destinations based on what you’re going through in life, is coming out next year and she currently specializes in covering travel and luxury lifestyle news.

                                                                                  

Schaler has appeared on top network television shows including: Good Morning America, The Today Show, Fox & Friends, MSNBC’s Countdown, CNN, etc. With majors in Communications and Sociology, Schaler has traveled to more than 30 countries and has written more than 200 nationally published travel articles, including seven national magazine cover stories. Schaler’s travel writing is also featured on ABCNEWS.COM that has more than 20-million unique users and her stories link back to her TRAVEL THERAPY websites.

  

Schaler’s work appears on television, in national newspapers, magazines and online. Some of her publishing credits include: THE NEW YORKER, THE BOSTON GLOBE, THE NEW YORK TIMES, TOWN AND COUNTRY TRAVEL, US AIRWAYS, AMERICA WEST, HEMISPHERES and ISLANDS magazines. 

  

From visiting some of the most luxurious resorts and spas in the world to whitewater rafting in Bali, sailing the British Virgin Islands, hiking in Switzerland, horseback riding in New Zealand, cave tubing in Belize, dog sledding and ice hiking in the Canadian Rockies, surfing in Hawaii, skiing in Austria, zip-lining, rappelling and ATV’ing in Puerto Rico, snorkeling in Australia, biking in Denmark, camping in the Cascade Mountains and golfing internationally, Schaler has the inside track on amazing vacation destinations.

  

Schaler credits her hip, edgy writing style and her wanderlust spirit to her background as a television broadcast journalist. She was the first journalist ever embedded with troops in Bosnia and recently returned from being the first journalist embedded with a combat Apache helicopter unit on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border.

  

Schaler has worked as an on-air television correspondent for CNN, and has worked as a reporter/anchor at ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX affiliates in major markets across the country. Her goal now is to focus on her TRAVEL THERAPY book coming out in 2009, and to continue to create one of the best travel websites and daily travel blogs. She is also working on developing several travel television shows. 

Growing up outside of Seattle, Washington, Schaler has lived in ten different states and currently is based in NYC. Constantly globetrotting around the world, Schaler says her home now, “is wherever I put my suitcase.”
