Finally, the day is here that the orphanage I volunteered at in Malawi, Africa, is getting electricty for the first time!

This is huge on so many different levels. Can you imagine growing up without any electricty? Sitting in the dark after the sun goes down, not being able to do much, because you can only see your hand in front of your face?

Now the children at Mtendere Village can experience so much more, including being able to study at night, something the children are excited about because at this orphange going to school is an prized honor, something they love to do.

Here’s a photo take by the folks at 100x Missions, the group that runs the orphanage.

Just check out the smiles on the children’s faces as they look up in awe at the lightbulb! I’m told Stephen Makasu, age 17, said they played with the switch all night just to see the lights go on and off. The kids are amazed and overwhelmed. I can’t wait to go back and see this all for myself!

A special thank you goes out to Steve Pruitt from Auburn, AL, for going over to Malawi and putting the electricity in.

To think these children are experiencing electricity for the first time ever is so humbling.

If you’d like to donate to help the beautiful children at Mtendere Village in Malawi, where more than 150 orphans are getting a second chance at life because of people like you who care,  you can go to www.100xmissions.org for more information.

Remember, a little donation goes a long way and this is your chance to help and Pay it Forward!
