If you’re looking at South Africa as a TRAVEL THERAPY destination there are some highlights you shouldn’t miss when visiting this country and there are some South Africa travel tips you need to know when you’re preparing for your trip.

I’m packing up and getting ready to leave for South Africa and although I’ll only have about a week to spend in this fascinating country before I move on to Malawi for my volunteering at an orphanage, I’m still going to be able to fit a lot in. Africa is a country I’ve waited my entire life to visit so I couldn’t be more excited. This is all part of my research for the TRAVEL THERAPY book that’s coming out next spring and the TRAVEL THERAPY TV Series that’s in development.

Here are some useful tips for traveling to South Africa:

*Check with your doctor about if you’ll need shots and start early

 *Malaria pills are needed in some areas of South Africa

*Entry requirements from the U.S. is a valid passport

*You must have one entire passport page blank for their free entry sticker

*Banks are the best places to exchange money-SA currency is called “Rand”

*Credit cards are smart option and usually are accepted throughout SA

*Consider Traveler Insurance

*Buy proper electrical adapters for computers, cameras, etc.

*Bring extra camera batteries, tapes, etc.

*Check your cell phone service for international package plans

*Internet cafes are in most urban areas along with some Wifi spots

*Check customs for what you can bring and out of South Africa

*South Africa is 7 hours ahead of NYC time. 

Now you’re ready to travel to South Africa so what do you do once you arrive?
