After spending hours hunched over my computer, finishing my second book, I was more than ready for a TRAVEL THERAPY spa experience when I headed into the top rated Venus Spa at CuisinArt in Anguilla.

I had met the spa director, Kathy Eggleston, the night before and just hearing her talk so passionately about the spa and the local people who work there, let me know I made the right decision when picking my first spa experience in Anguilla.

Like the rest of the CuisinArt property the Venus Spa is bathed in the soothing colors of blue and white and has the feel of a grand Greek villa.

After undergoing a $10 million dollar expansion in the winter of 2008, the new Venus Spa is now 27,000 square feet and has some new, noteworthy additions. One standout is how this top Anguilla spa now has the first aqua therapy pool in the Caribbean. The beautiful indoor pool has warm nutrient and mineral rich saltwater that’s so inviting you’ll have a hard time leaving.

What I love the most is that you have to reserve time to spend in the pool so the experience is private. I kept thinking about how perfect it would be to get a group of friends together to enjoy the experience because this pool is such a generous size it could easily and comfortably fit a dozen people.

The new Venus spa also has a VIP suite and a several couple’s suites to choose from depending on the experience you’re looking for.

My time was limited, I know, that’s just so wrong on so many levels, but I did want to get a sample of several treatments so I chose to do an Anguillian Massage and a Seaweed facial. I had Melva, the award-winning therapist whose smile and warm personality lights up a room. Her touch was truly magical. Where it usually takes me about a half hour to start relaxing Melva had me in a blissful place within minutes.

Another thing I love about the Venus Spa is that you have so many different treatment options, including treatments using fresh ingredients like lavender from the resort’s hydroponic garden.

Some great treatments to try are the Nourishing Island Sampler where in 80 minutes you get an Anguillian Coconut Pineapple Scrub, Anjuillian Massage and a Mini Seaweed Facial.

I also had my eye on the Mother of Pearl Venus Spa Journey where you have a warm seashell massage and a special scrub and bath and facial. Guess I’ll just have to come back when I have more time!
