Harbour Island in the Bahamas is a hidden gem, a true escape, a playground for the rich and famous who fly in on their private jets or cruise in on superyachts. To namedrop just a few celebrities who have visited Harbour Island Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Dwayne Wade, Will Smith, Bono, Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Elle Macpherson, Jennifer Hudson, and Kerry Washington.

But don’t let all the celebrity fans fool you. You can leave any attitude you have at home because on Harbour Island the vibe is laid back luxury mixed with a truly authentic island experience as Harbour Island’s one charming town with historic homes you can rent, Dunmore Town, is more than 300 years old.

Harbour Island is one of my favorite islands in the world and that’s saying something because for my Travel Therapy TV features I’ve visited more than 68 countries.

There are no high rise hotels or casinos here. Harbour Island is where you to relax, reboot, and reenergize. On this island you rent golf carts instead of luxury cars and “the” place to be and be seen is walking the beach at sunset or sunrise.

Harbour Island’s legendary Pink Sand Beach is still one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been fortunate enough to experience. The sand is baby powder soft and the water is this unbelievable turquoise color that takes your breath away…

Harbour Island, only three miles long and one mile wide, stole my heart from the first time I visited ten years ago. I have a Travel Therapy saying that you’ll never regret waking up for a sunrise and that saying was inspired by my stay on Harbour Island where my sunrise walks on the Pink Sand Beach always helped reenergize my mind, body, and soul.

For this trip to Harbour Island beyond coming for some Travel Therapy features I also came to do some research for a movie and TV series I’m writing. That’s why staying at the beautiful Romora Bay Resort and Marina was the perfect fit for my “research” because Romora Bay’s marina has 50 slips taking up to 180 foot superyachts and 17 suits overlooking the harbour.

I also love Romora Bay’s pretty infinity pool and Sunsets Restaurant and Bar that’s right on the water serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a spectacular view of the harbor and marina. Sunsets Restaurant has the best Happy Hour on Harbour Island and there’s live music almost every night.

I’m obsessed with the breakfasts at Romora Bay and couldn’t start my day without having Chef Danielle whip up one of her specialties like the amazing Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. #WorthIt!

Harbour Island is known as ‘Briland’ to its residents because that’s how it sounds when you say Harbour Island really fast. No matter how you say it Harbour Island is one of the Bahamas best-kept secrets. This island paradise is just off the northern tip of Eleuthera and a flight from Miami to Eleuthera will only take you about fifty minutes. Then it’s a quick five-minute water taxi to Harbour Island and a blissful beach.
