One of Karen’s newest Travel Therapy experiences is her trademarked Christmas Camps at top resorts and destinations around the world that NBC’s TODAY show came to and featured last Christmas!
Christmas Camp provided a unique and thoughtfully designed platform for expanding our customer base, especially during the traditionally slower, early weeks of December. The connection between movie, book and author created a truly magical experience for all – younger and older adults; those traveling as a couple, or for a girlfriends’ getaway.
With Karen’s Christmas Camps she’s bringing the Hallmark original Christmas Camp movie she wrote and her Christmas Camp books to life, creating an uplifting, inspiring, and empowering holiday experience that includes Christmas themed spa and wellness treatments and activities.
Fun fact, Karen also wrote the Netflix hit, A Christmas Prince that had two sequels and four other holiday movies for Hallmark and Lifetime in the last three years. Her newest royal romance just came out October 5, 2021, called A ROYAL CHRISTMAS FAIRY TALE where she’s also writing the movie.
In addition to her Christmas stories Karen is also working on a summer beach read romantic comedy novel and movie and two feature films.

Schaler’s passion is traveling and experiencing unique cultures, people, places and adventures.
It was not only because of Karen’s phenomenal experience and proven success in broadcast journalism that we wanted her to visit our resort in Saratoga Springs, New York, but also her obvious passion for travel and sharing the experiences with her audience. It was clear she cared deeply not only about the quality of work she was producing, but also the people she was working with, the site she was covering and her viewers. She continuously went from one end of the resort to the next in order to cover all aspects of the location, keeping in mind the audience’s varying interests. Karen is a truly authentic and lovely person to work with, and the results from her time spent and TV segment were better than we could have wished for.
I have worked with Karen Schaler on several Travel Therapy TV segments about the province of New Brunswick, Canada, and plan to do so again. Karen’s authentic approach to crafting an engaging editorial depiction of a destination and her commitment to quality are evident from start to finish. It is a bonus that, while being professional, organized and efficient, she takes the time to engage each person she encounters showing her genuine passion for what she does. Kudos, Karen!
From visiting some of the most luxurious resorts and spas in the world, to whitewater rafting in Bali, chasing icebergs in Newfoundland, sailing the British Virgin Islands, hiking and skiing in Switzerland, hot air ballooning in Turkey, cooking classes in France, horseback riding in New Zealand, cave tubing in Belize, dog sledding and ice hiking in the Canadian Rockies, surfing in Hawaii, skiing in Austria, rappelling in Puerto Rico, snorkeling in Australia and biking in Denmark, Schaler is constantly searching for her next TRAVEL THERAPY TRIP.
Schaler credits her honest, hip and heartfelt writing style and her wanderlust spirit to her background as a television broadcast journalist. She was the first TV journalist ever embedded with troops in Bosnia where she reported live and executive produced, wrote and reported in a half-hour documentary.
In 2007, Schaler was also the first journalist ever embedded with a combat Apache helicopter unit in Afghanistan where she reported daily and executive produced, wrote and reported in a one-hour documentary.
Growing up outside of Seattle, Washington, Schaler has lived in ten different states and currently is based in New York City. Constantly globetrotting around the world, Schaler says her home now, “is wherever I put my suitcase.”
