The holiday are the busiest time of year for travel and all the crowds, long lines, and extra expenses, can all add up to a lot of stress.
To better understand the needs of holiday travelers Homewood Suites and Homewood2Suites by Hilton, working with Wakefield Research, conducted a new holiday travel study to see what’s impacting travelers the most and here are some of the findings.
- 44% have lost their temper
- 1/3 have yelled at a stranger
- ¼ canceled trip to avoid stress
- 62% prefer staying in a hotel than with family
The last stat, about staying in a hotel instead of with family, makes sense to me, but that also means you have to find a great place to stay and that can just add to your stress.
I found a smart choice to be Homewood Suites and Home2Suites by Hilton for their award-winning, extended stay, all-suites properties that offer a great value. At these Hilton properties you have a ton of space, for the entire family, with a separate living and sleeping areas, a fully equipped kitchen and awesome amenities like free wifi and a full breakfast every morning. At Homewood Suites they also have a cool social with free wine and beer and at Home2Suites it’s pet friendly, so you the whole family can be together for the holidays!
Homewood Suites and Home2Suites survey also found that a majority of travelers listened to music to help calm frazzled nerves while traveling. I also like having a good book or movie ready that can help me relax.
Another tip to help you cut down on holiday travel stress, be sure to book direct with your hotels and airlines to get the best deals and assurance that when you arrive your reservation actually exists.
