Here’s a preview of where some lucky guests will stay when a new resort opens in the BVI this fall…This is making some serious waves because it’s the first new property in the British Virgin Islands in 15 years and believe me it was worth the wait!!!! $45 million dollar Scrub Island resort looks like a real knock-out! The owners have gone back and forth on a name for the resort but finally decided to stay with the original name of the island, even if “Scrub Island” isn’s so sexy. Actually, I think that’s pretty cool.Up until now all that has been on this island is a shack like restaurant for sailors.
Opening in Spring of 2008, the 230-acre Scrub Island will offer three private beaches, a boutique hotel, spa, marina and estates (from $700,000-$3.1 million). The hotel has 90 units, including 2-bedroom marina suites, stand-alone ocean view villas and spa bungalows. Also planned for the development is a shopping village, wine cellar, fitness center and cigar bar. One of the things to note is a when completed Scrub Island will have the largest Marina in the BVI able to accommodate vessels up to 75-feet, with 100 slips. Even after development no more than 200 people will be allowed to live on the island offering a true getaway experience.
