I just got back from an amazing trip to a private island in the Bahamas that’s just a short flight from the East coast and this island is phenomenal!
After meeting Sandals founder, Gordon “Butch” Stewart and hearing about how the family bought the islandm, that’s now known as the Royal Plantation Island in the Exumas, Bahamas, I was intrigued and knew this island sounded like a perfect TRAVEL THERAPY destination.
So even though my schedule is packed right now I snuck off for a few days to explore the island and my only regret is that I didn’t have more time to spend there! This private island, all-inclusive luxury property is the ultimate escape. It’s elegant but casual, a place where you can just exhale and remember what it feels like to truly relax.
One night after an amazing dinner whipped up by Chef Anthony I just went out and sat on my own private dock outside my villas and looked up into the sky. I don’t know how long I stayed there staring up at the stars but I know when I finally got up to go back into my villa I felt like any stress I had brought with me to the island had disappeared. It was magical. You know, I can’t remember the last time I even had time to look at stars. This island helps you put things into perspective and was just the attitude adjustment I need to focus and re-energize.
Just 50 acres, surrounded by the most impossibly clear, turquoise water you’ll ever see, on Royal Plantation Island you’ll only find six villas (1-3 bedrooms) to rent, all with spectacular views of the water.
Three of the villas, are just five steps from the beach, two are perched on a hill above the beach (a two minute walk to the sand), giving you this incredible 360 view of the island and the one I stayed, my favorite, is the Birdcage, that’s perfectly perched on at one corner of the island overlooking the tiny marina with water views from every window, including the shower!
