The Travel Therapy book has it’s own signature cocktail and it’s a liquid vacation in a glass! I got the idea for the Travel-Tini when we were planning the book launch celebration with the New York Palace Hotel. I wanted my book Travel Therapy: Where Do You Need to Go? to have its own signature drink that would fit the content. Something smart and chic, light and refreshing where one sip will make you feel like you’re on vacation!

For the Travel Therapy signature drink I didn’t want anything too heavy or strong or anything too gooey sweet that tasted like a pixie stick. So I came up with the idea to create a twist on an Appletini where you would add a splash of fresh pineapple and lime juice.

The New York Palace Hotel hosted the Travel Therapy book launch celebration in the stunning Madison room and bartender Adriel Lahens helped concoct the exact balance of ingredients I wanted to make a perfect Travel-Tini!

What started out as just a fun idea caught on like wildfire at the Travel Therapy party and pretty soon the entire room was filled with guest holding the delicious lime green Travel-Tinis!

I can’t even begin to tell you how many people came up and asked me about the drink, the inspiration behind it and they wanted the recipe.

Since Travel Therapy is all about sharing the inspiration and adventure I wanted to share the recipe here with you!

So whether you’re on a tropical island wiggling your toes in the sand or planning your next vacation I hope the Travel-Tini is something you can enjoy for years to come!

Cheers to the New York Palace Hotel for helping me create the delicious Travel-Tini, the signature cocktail for Travel Therapy: Where Do You  Need to Go?

If you’re in Manhattan tonight don’t forget to stop by the Borders bookstore in the Time Warner building at 10 Columbus Circle. We’re kicking off a great free event at 7p.m. where we’ll be giving away free signed copies of Travel Therapy: Where Do You Need to Go? and other Travel Therapy goodies.

You’ll also hear the first theme song ever created for a book. It’s of course called “Travel Therapy” and it will be performed live! I wrote the lyrics, a Grammy winner helped produce the song and singer/songwriter Rob Holub will be performing the song tonight!

Hope to see you there!
