I was doing a Travel Therapy segment on the fun and hip Broadminded show on Sirius XM 155 radio with hosts Christine and Molly and we started talking about the best trips to take if you’re single. So I thought it would be the perfect theme for this Travel Tuesday, where we highlight some of the best travel deals of the week!
In my book Travel Therapy: Where Do You Need to Go? there are several chapters that focus on trips to take when you’re single, whether you want to make it a girlfriends getaway with your best gal pals or you’re looking to travel solo and meeting some new friends along the way.
The key to finding the best trip for singles is to know your own comfort zone and then give yourself a little shove out of that zone so you can experience new people, places and things and then the possibilities are endless! You can always do that singles cruise or go to a singles resort but why not try something different.
I always like to recommend active trips because this is a great way to meet other singles who like to do similar things and it’s also a way to learn something new. Don’t golf? No problem, take a lesson and learn a new sport and if you’re a lady golfer it’s the perfect way to meet some great guys! You get the idea!
So here’s a look at some fantastic travel specials happening right now where you can plan a unique singles vacation and save some money at the same time!
Down and Dirty!
In Sun Valley, Idaho, there are all kind of scenic guided dirt biking trips that are free if you have a bike and if you need to rent one it’s only about 30 dollars a day. Coming up June 20 there’s a dirt biking camp for first timers that helps you get started. You can also find rooms in Sun Valley for as little as 69 dollars a night and this part of the country is stunning! For more on dirt biking and other outdoor adventure trips in Sun Valley, like guided fly fishing adventures, go to www.visitsunvalley.com
Fun in the Sun!
If you want a vacation where you can pick up some golf lessons and still enjoy the beach and the spa there’s a great deal right now at the Hyatt Regency at Coconut Point in Florida’s Gulf Coast where rooms are almost half off at just $129 a night and this deal lasts through September 30. South of the Border
If you’re looking for a party atmosphere you can grab some friends and head to Cancun, Mexico, where you’ll always find plenty of other singles and some great hotel specials right now. You can find a room for 85 dollars at the Hyatt Regency plus 20 percent off of food and 35 perfect off at the spa. For more great deals the best place to find updated travel specials is by going to the visitor’s bureau website at www.cancun.travel.com
Vegas Baby!
You won’t be single for long if you spend too much time in Vegas! Sin City is all about hooking up and they even have a wedding chapel on every corner to help you out! Seriously, Las Vegas is a fun choice if you’re single because there’s always so much to do. The clubs, the resort pools, the golf courses and the gambling halls are all filled with people trying to get lucky in more ways than one! Las Vegas also has some amazing deals right now to try and entice economy weary travelers. From May to September you can find rooms for just $55 dollars at both the New York, New York Hotel and the Monte Carlo and that awesome hotel rate also includes a long list of two for one specials that include everything from the buffet to show tickets. Swiss Adventure
One of the reasons I like recommending Switzerland for singles is for two reasons. If you’re traveling solo it’s safe and simple to get around on your own and if you’re looking for a sporty trip you can hike in the summer and ski in the winter in some of the most beautiful mountains in the world! Switzerland also has its own currency, the Swiss Franc that our dollar is stronger against so our money goes further there. The best way to see Switzerland is to get a train pass so you can see several cities in several days and the country is so small it’s really easy to get around. The country is also a melting pot of different cultural influences where you can experience Swiss German, Swiss French and the Italian section of Switzerland and they’re all just an hour apart so this quickly gives you a little taste of what Europe has to offer so you can then go back and visit the other countries that interest you! If you’re looking for more solo and single vacations be sure to check out the new Travel Therapy book and let me know if there are any trips you’ve taken that you loved or a place you’d like to learn more about!
If you’re in New York this week be sure to stop by the free Travel Therapy event at Borders book at 10 Columbus Circle this Thursday at 7:00p.m. because we’ll be giving away free copies of the Travel Therapy book and doing drawings for some special Travel Therapy escapes! You’ll also have the chance to hear the world premiere of the Travel Therapy song, the first t theme song ever created specifically for a book!
Hope to see you there!
